Steps to follow:

We start with a very clear premise, namely that spot on flea treatments must always be applied on dry hair and for at least 48 hours before and after, we must prevent the dog from getting wet and, above all, you should not bathe your furry friend. If you use these pipettes before the bath, the product will mix with soap and water, and you will be wasting their active ingredient. With the goal of having your pet free of parasites, if you use pipettes after bathing your dog, the animal?s skin is very sensitive and will be affected by irritation due to the product. So if you want to avoid this discomfort, once you apply the pipette, wait at least two days to give your furry friend a bath if necessary.

To know how spot on flea treatment works, you should know that although such products are put onto a small area of skin, then distribute it over the entire surface of the dog's body. Applications are usually available in single-dose format that meet the needs and characteristics of your pet.

You cannot apply any old product. The volume and concentration must be appropriate for a small dog like a Chihuahua. The amount needed is not the same as that needed for a Neapolitan Mastiff and it has nothing to do with a cat. In this sense, it is worth remembering that you should never give a pipette for a dog to a cat, because its toxicity could be lethal.

The first step to use them is to find a place at home where your pet is relaxed and with a surface that is easy to clean if there is any product spilt all over the show. Then open the package with the spot on flea treatment and break the applicator tip. You must hold the pipette upright with one hand and, with the other push the hair away from your pet until you see the bare skin. In the case of dogs, you can place the tip of the pipette on the skin and between the shoulder blades. Apply the good stuff with a squeeze and put all the content on the area.

When it comes to large dogs, you must consistently apply the entire contents of the pipette. Distribute in 3 or 4 key points of the animal?s anatomy, along the line of the animal?s back from the shoulders to the base of the tail. You must be very careful and not put too much of the solution at any one single point because it might fall down the sides of the animal?s body.

Once distributed, you should wash your hands and avoid contact with the treated area until it dries completely. The effectiveness of the solution is almost immediate and it will leave your dog free of fleas or ticks. Remember to always consult your veterinarian to see which product is best for your dog.

How long should I wait before wiping my dog's HAIR with an oatmeal and aloe wipe?

Hi,

Ideally, you should wait 24 to 48 hours after flea treatment before bathing your dog. However, using a wipe on a localized spot shouldn't be a problem.
