Using a cushion and a pullover

A good and very simple way to make a homemade cat bed is with an old cushion and a pullover made of wool or any other material you no longer use. You can give new use to an old garment while recycling a cushion. The idea is to fill an old, worn-out cushion with a loose-fitting pullover. It's simple, cheap and easy to clean.

Put the cushion inside the pullover, and then close the bed by tying the pullover sleeves together. If you don't have a cushion, you can fill the pullover with other garments until it is soft and comfortable.

Using a cardboard box

Cats love boxes of all kinds, especially cardboard boxes. If you have a box at home that your cat loves hanging out in, why not give it a personal touch to make it more comfortable and part of your home decor.

Take the box and cover the outside with a cloth or even some colored paper so that it stands out. When the weather's cold, place a folded blanket inside the box to make it soft and comfortable. And when it's warmer, simply put a soft, light fabric inside.

Using a wooden box

Another, perhaps more durable and variable, alternative is using a wooden box to create a bed for your cat. If you have a box at home you do not use, clean it well, sand it down, varnish it and paint it a nice color. You can even add some wooden legs to raise it slightly off the ground.

Or if you don't have wooden legs, you can use another box as a base so your cat is higher off the ground. For the interior, use a cushion and line the box with any old fabric you have at home. You've now created a very nice bed you can put anywhere at home for your cat to doze off in.

Using a suitcase

Do you have an old suitcase lying around the house? Instead of throwing it, empty it and clean it well to create a great haven for your cat. It's best to use half of the suitcase as the bed, putting in a cushion or some fabric to create a soft, pleasant and comfortable base.

Fill the suitcase a good amount to create a comfy mattress for your cat. In order to avoid the bed being at ground level, you can add some legs to raise the suitcase. With the other side of the suitcase, you can even make a top bunk as a litter box, also filling it with a fabric base.
