The aquarium

If we want our clownfish to be as happy as possible, it is best recreate their natural habitat making it as close to the tropical salty waters this animal was born in.

This type of tropical fish needs an aquarium with appropriate plants and a bottom made of coral, white sand, which, interestingly, is actually eroded and crushed coral. In addition, the water temperature should be maintained between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius.

The size of the aquarium should also be taken into account as per clownfish you must have 75 litres of water, so you must perform the calculation if we want to raise a couple or even with more.

Food

Despite its size, keep in mind that the clownfish is a predator, who likes to chase their food and, therefore, is carnivorous. Furthermore it requires some vegetable contributions.

The food must be provided without stopping the water current so that its predator instinct is encouraged and invited to the chase. Among the things it can eat, apart from balanced dry food, is mussels, cockles, mild fish, octopus, prawns, chicken liver, worms and cooked spinach.

Behaviour

The clownfish is a very active fish and you can count on it being in the aquarium with anemones, their eternal companions, to keep things very entertaining, as it will care for and maintain comfortable polyp. By doing this it will be calmer and boredom will vanish.

It is an animal that is very attached to its territory but this species acts in a hierarchical manner, so the larger fish will stay with larger anemones and small live with the smallest.

Take care if you decide to introduce other fish into this environment. Although there are several types, usually the species is very peaceful, but may suffer aggression towards other fish therefore it is best to seek the advice of the pet shop.

Finally, it is very important that if they are going to reproduce, that an adult supervises, because you have to transfer the eggs to another aquarium to prevent other fish from eating them.
